Homework Policy

Homework is an extension of classroom learning and will be assigned a minimum of four (4) nights per week. Additionally, students may be assigned independent-reading assignments for at least 20 minutes each night.

Suggested lengths of time for homework assignments:

Kindergarten      30 minutes
Grades 1&2         45 minutes
Grades 3&4        60 minutes

Student’s homework will be recorded in a “Homework Log” which will be distributed during the first week of school. This log is to document homework assignments and can be used for students to copy when returning from an absence.

• Strengthen basic skills
• Reinforce study habits
• Extend classroom learning
• Develop initiative, responsibility, and self-direction
• Increase range and scope of interests
• Foster worthwhile use of leisure time
